How do i fix my ps2 ncaa football game ?

I recently bought a 2010 ncaa football game for my ps2. It doesn't appear to have any deep scratches. My ps2 is one of the older models that opens up in the front not in the top. Do you think that my ps2 isnt updated enough or the game needs repair. If you thinks it needs repair, what would you suggest to fix it?
