Would you consider New Orleans, Baton Rouge, or Louisiana in General to be a Homophobic Place?

I've been doing a lot of college research and planning for college (where im going to apply and all that other good stuff) and at the moment LSU (Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge) and Tulane in New Orleans are at the top of my list. Now I've been researching these schools for about 6months now but the one thing I have not been able to find is whether or not the cities they are in are homophobic. I'm from Washington DC so I don't know anyone thats from there that can help me with this and I don't want to apply there, get accepted, and then hate it. All responses are welcome
