Can i use a flashdrive with my PS3?

I just got a PS3 250 GB system and i live in kentucky. Im going to visit my mom in Maryland and she also has a PS3. I plan on getting NCAA Football 2012. I will be buying it up in maryland and playing it on my moms PS3. Can i carry game data from her ps3 and move it to my ps3 so i can pick up where i left off? If so will a standard flashdrive work? I basically just want to copy the data from her ps3 and move it to mine.
